Future Garage
On This Page
Future garage starts with UK garage’s 2-step rhythm and empties it out. The tempo drops to around 130 BPM, the drums pull back, and what fills the space is reverb, pitched vocal fragments, and bass that moves slowly enough to feel like it’s breathing.
This is where I work when a track needs to sit in that specific register: nocturnal, not quite melancholy, not quite hopeful. The genre’s constraint is also its character: the space between the hits matters as much as the hits themselves. These tracks are built for headphones or a quiet room, not a festival.
